THE WUT WUT NAME

Pronounced Woot Woot Alma or What What Alma, depending upon your accent, the uniqueness of our name seems to beg for a funny little anecdote about its meaning.

There is not much of an anecdote. When faithful member Emery moved to the Mississippi River town of Alma in his junior year of high school, he was forced to carry on a long-distance friendship with his Chippewa Falls High School cohorts. Back in Chippewa for a weekend, he was hanging out with member pals Nick and Paul. And while Nick was perfecting his NERF jump shot in Paul's bedroom, Em and Paul checked out the Alma High School yearbook. Soon their conversation turned from a comprehensive list of the cutest Alma High girls eighth grade and up to trading one-word gibberish.

Emery kept saying, "Wut. Wut. Wut. Wut."

Paul kept saying, "Alma. Alma. Alma."

When Nick pulled up short on an elbow jumper, he realized his pals had a vocal rhythm section going, "Wut Wut. Alma. Wut Wut. Alma."

Just a few years later, Nick wrote and directed a short film called "Me & Cell P" for his college production class. The story of a love triangle between a war hero (played by Emery), a woman, and a cell phone was produced with the company moniker Wut Wut Alma Pictures.

Subsequent creative works and short films by the various friends recycled the Wut Wut Alma name too, until the group decided to produce the feature film, Illegal Use of Joe Zopp. It was then that the Wut Wut Alma Moving Pictures name became downright official.
